Lara brings over 30 years of legal experience to her family law and mediation practice. She is a member of the bar in New York, California, and the Federal Courts. A Rochester native and graduate of Brighton High School, Lara is deeply committed to helping individuals and families navigate challenging transitions with clarity, respect, and compassion.
Lara received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Rochester and earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Toledo College of Law. Over the past 15 years, she has focused much of her practice on matrimonial mediation, guiding couples through separation and divorce in a constructive and cooperative manner. She is dedicated to helping clients reach practical, long-lasting resolutions while reducing conflict and preserving dignity throughout the process.
To enhance her work in mediation, Lara went back to school mid-career to earn a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from Boston University. This unique combination of legal and clinical training has strengthened her ability to address not only the legal aspects of family disputes but also the emotional and interpersonal dynamics that often accompany them.
Before entering private practice, Lara served for five years as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Monroe County Court, where she co-authored numerous published legal decisions. She continues to work on appeals and serves on the Attorneys for Children panel for the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Fourth Department, representing children in family court.
Lara is a member of the Family Law Section of the Monroe County Bar Association and a former Board Member of the Monroe County Legal Assistance Corporation
